The Volunteer and Staff End of Season Party 2023: Thank you so much everyone!
By Yukari Yamano
On Friday, December 8, the Seattle Japanese Garden hosted its annual Volunteer and Staff End-of-Season Party. Although we did not count the exact number of attendees, we received around 80 responses to the invitation, which made us realize the tremendous support the Garden received from our wonderful volunteers in 2023!
We host this event every December after the Garden closes for the season. It is a private event, during which our volunteers can tour the Garden and experience its beauty in a more intimate fashion, while it’s closed to the larger public. The volunteers also enjoyed a light meal of sushi and sandwiches in the Tateuchi Community Room, as well as homemade Japanese cookies and a sweet bean soup.
Last year, the party was held a couple of days after Seattle received snow, and the Garden still had some sparkling remnants of the snowfall, which thrilled our volunteers. This year, the volunteers were the first to see the new flowering cherry trees that the gardening crew had just planted in the restored meadow area.
Once again, we would like to thank all those who support the Garden. We really appreciate your love for this place and hope to see you again next season!
