An exhibit featuring photographs of the annual site-specific event Wandering and Wondering held at the Seattle Japanese Garden and other Butoh artists will open on August 1.
This Free First Thursday event will also feature a 3-hour Butoh performance in which visitors encounter dancers and musicians dispersed in surprising locations throughout the garden as the performers engage in a minute-by-minute response to all the scents, sounds, sights and sensations of the garden.
The event’s director Joan Laage (Kogut Butoh) has directed this event and other performances in the garden since 2011.
“We and the world need more beauty like this.” (audience comment)
Join us on Thursday, August 1 from 3:30 – 6:30 pm and explore the world of Butoh. Admission to the garden is free for everyone after 1 pm for Free First Thursday.
On-the-Wall exhibit will be on display through the month of September.
