Norimi Kusanagi, a Bainbridge Island resident creates art by arranging the pressed leaves and flower petals to reflect nature’s simple elegance. This technique is called ‘Oshi (press) bana (hana = flower)’ in Japan.

Norimi was introduced to pressed flower art by her sister-in-law during a visit to Japan and was touched by the flowers’ fragility, simple beauty, and their ability to retain vibrant colors many days after they had been pressed. Today, you may find her on a mission to find small leaves and flower petals from Bainbridge Island to Japan every season.

Join us on Thursday, May 4, 5pm – 6:30pm in the Tateuchi Community Room for a demonstration and a hands-on experience with Norimi.
